Free download: a no-nonsense 30-day care routine for your houseplants
Most houseplants do not die from neglect. They die from over-attention — too much water, too much fertilizer, repotting at the wrong time. This 30-day care calendar is built on the opposite philosophy: do the right small things consistently, skip the rest.
What’s inside (8 pages, printable):
- Daily and weekly task breakdown for 4 weeks
- The 4 weekly tasks (inspection, watering decision, leaf cleaning, pest scan)
- The 3 monthly tasks (fertilize, rotate, note changes)
- Species quick reference for 9 popular houseplants (Spider Plant, Calathea, Orchid, Monstera, Snake Plant, Pothos, Peace Lily, Philodendron, Aloe)
- ASPCA pet-safety verdict per species (PET-SAFE vs TOXIC)
Free to download, free to print, free to share. If it helps you, please credit Leafmend.com.
How to use the calendar
Print and stick on your fridge, or save the PDF to your phone. Each day has one small task — finger-test soil, wipe leaves, scan for pests. The whole month requires under 10 minutes per day. The point is consistency, not intensity.
Watering: the most important rule
The calendar says “Check watering” on specific days. This does NOT mean “Water today.” It means: finger-test the soil 1-2 inches deep, water only the dry plants. Most plant deaths are from watering on a schedule instead of by need. Full watering frequency guide here.
Sources and methodology
The calendar synthesizes guidance from US university extension sources (NC State, U of Maryland, U of Illinois) for general care, and the ASPCA Toxic and Non-Toxic Plants database for every pet-safety verdict. We do not invent care advice; we cite and synthesize.
