What does NOT matter much in succulent fertilizer

- Specialty formulas for specific succulent genera: Products marketed separately for Aloe, Echeveria, or Lithops use nearly identical NPK ratios. Research does not support genus-specific nutrient requirements beyond the general “low nitrogen” guideline.
- “Bloom booster” claims: Phosphorus supports flower development, but most succulents bloom in response to seasonal light and temperature shifts, not fertilizer. A 2-7-7 fertilizer will not force an Echeveria to bloom indoors in January if it lacks the natural winter cold rest period.
